Megumi Hoshiko (Meg) has travelled far and wide, competing for Great Britain at the Biathle/Triathle Worlds in Indonesia and training in Portugal with the Northwest Tri Academy. Recently, Meg also came an outstanding third in the National Road 5K Champs and with her teammates Sarah and Evie Smith, achieved an incredible team gold medal!

Meg first started swimming at 10 years-old, running at 11 and began cycling about 1 and a half years ago. Meg likes the variety in multi-sports, and although she said it can be challenging trying to balance all three, for her the more sport, the better.  She explained since then there have ‘definitely been a lot of ups and downs with some really good periods, but also times where she’s been injured or lacking form which has been really frustrating,’

Despite these challenges, she has come third at the World Biathle Championships last year and came 11th in the London Mini Marathon, both spectacular achievements!

In the future, she wants to still be involved in triathlon either as a coach or an athlete and she hopes to someday represent Portugal internationally and complete an Ironman. Meg is already an accomplished, multi-talented athlete and definitely someone to watch in the future whether it will be in the water, on the bike, on the running track or all three!
