The gods and goddesses from ancient Greece have captivated our attention for centuries, the new exhibit in the World Museum of Liverpool offers you an insight into the deeper history behind them. It has run from April 2023 and will close at the end of February this year. The exhibit only costs £8 for adults and is free for under 18s. This family-friendly exhibition dives into ancient Greek and Roman mythology to expose the original stories of the heroes and heroines we have come to know today.  

The World Museum is found next to St George’s Hall and Central library making it easy to locate and to find a parking space. Alternatively, there are excellent public transport links with Merseyrail and local bus services. The exhibit only takes roughly an hour and is the centre of Liverpool making it a great possibility for a family day out. The exhibit features a collection of over 100 sculptures and objects, displayed together for the first time ever.  

The numerous articles were originally collected by the 18th century antiquarian Henry Blundell of Sefton, and it is the first time they have been displayed on such a grand scale. There are statues of Zeus, Athena, Diana, Hera, Artemis, Apollo, Isis, Aphrodite and Ares to name a few. Alongside stories, details of their lives including great loves and great battles, and the lives of normal Greek people at the time. It brings to life the myths and explores the impact it had on the lives of mortals.
