Tatum Arnell has been posting videos of her artworks online since April 2022 and despite being only 16 years old, she has had may successes already in the art world. Tatum has been drawing from when she could hold a pencil and her past artworks are still displayed on the walls. Since then, one of her pieces has been featured at the Royal Academy Young Artist’s summer show in 2023, a runner-up in Aldi’s design a lorry competition, and was a joint winner of the ‘What is your vision,’ West Kirby competition in the design and technology category.

Tatum explained how her favourite subject for her art is food because of the vibrancy and variety of textures she can explore. She also enjoys using colour pencil, especially Prismacolour and Polychromos because she says they give her the most control and they are easy to blend.

She posts time-lapses of herself completing her artwork and the progress of her pieces, which is enjoyable when watching the progress and once the final result is completed, you can’t help but think ‘wow’ at the detail of her life-like pieces. Tatum posts these on social media, on platforms such as TikTok (artytatum) and Instagram (tatumarnell) where you can be mesmerised by her incredible works. She also uses Thortful to sell her card designs.

In the future, Tatum would like a career involving art but even if she doesn’t, she would still create art anyway. The time and dedication it take to create each artwork shows her passion and commitment and the successes she’s already had demonstrate that she is definitely one to watch in the future.
