Cup success for Wallasey RBL

WALLASEY RBL ‘B’ surprised their neighbours and current Division three leaders, Manor Road ‘C’, with a fine team performance to win the Wallasey CGBA Association Cup Final at Magazine Bowling Club’s excellent green on Saturday.

THE Magazine Charity Pairs Cup was played on Saturday and after a very long days play in excellent conditions the winners were the Manor Road pairing of Jim Bunting and Nick Murray who beat Ellen Leverton and Sandra Astles in the final.

Bowls: All around the rainy Wirral greens

The Wirral Veterans Handicap Tournament which was to have been played at the Manor Road green on had to be postponed as the heavy overnight rain had made the green unplayable. It will be rearranged for a later date.

Gladstone takes honours in Tixall Classic

The Carlsberg-Tetley Tixall Classic played on Spring Bank Holiday Monday attracted a very strong field and at the end of a long day, local bowler, Gladstone’s Ian Hazlehurst, continued his fine run of form and took the first prize beating teammate Jon Finch in the final.

Bowls: Beecham wins the Wirral Merit Tournament

Tixall’s Jack Beecham was the winner of this year’s Wirral Merit Tournament on Saturday. The final rounds were at Royden Hall and Jack came through a strong field to take the prize beating West Kirby Victoria’s Anthony Thompson in the final.

Bowls: Wallasey Parks Merit Finals at New Brighton Cricket Club

The Wallasey Parks Merit Finals were played on Sunday on the excellent green at New Brighton Cricket Club and Queens Royal’s Chris Barton showed his liking for this green when he took his second title on it in two weeks.
