Wirral Globe: Wirral Globe 4

IT’S TIME to nominate your unsung hero for Wirral’s Golden Globe Awards. If you know someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the Wirral community, then please write to us about them and give us a chance to reward them for their efforts.
Details of what to do are at the end of the eight categories.

Young Hero of the Year

Sponsored by The Pyramids Shopping Centre

Young people often get a bad reputation by association, when in fact there are some great stories out there about ordinary young people doing extraordinary things. They may have given their time to a good cause, overcome adversity in extreme circumstances or excelled in a particular challenge that has helped others. If you recognise a young hero in your community, we want to hear about them.

Contribution to the Community

Is there someone you know locally who is considered to be a pillar of the community? They may have given their time and effort on a voluntary basis, organised events/fetes for the good of the local residents or simply displayed tremendous compassion and loyalty to their friends and neighbours? If you recognise this as someone in your local community and would like to see them receive their just reward, then send in your nomination and tell us why.

Neighbour of the Year

Sponsored by Magenta Living

Do you have an experience neighbour in your community who is always there to lend a hand? If you know someone who has perhaps displayed an act of generosity, cared for an elderly neighbour, prevented a crime or simply they can always be relied upon as a pillar of the local community - let us know why.

Friend of the Year

Sponsored by Susan C Porter Independent Funeral Directors

Have you got the best friend in the world? Are they always there to pick you up when you’re down or in need of a helping hand? Have they made you laugh until you cried? If you have a friend who you feel deserves recognition, let us know why.

Parent of the Year

Sponsored by Birkenhead Market

Does your mum or dad qualify to be our parent of the year? They may have shown incredible courage that has helped enhance your life or the lives of others, overcome times of hardship during illness, poverty or bereavement or offered outstanding parental guidance either within or outside the family unit that deserves special recognition.

Outstanding Bravery

Sponsored by Tidysite Building & Construction Services Ltd.

Most of us will know someone who inspires us with their bravery. It could be someone who has overcome illness and risked it all to help those around them, or maybe stood up for what they believe in despite adversity?

Local Sportsperson of the Year

When people think of sporting excellence it sums up images of achievement, positivity, healthy living, keeping active and commitment. Golden Globes recognises these individual sports people who have achieved something special or contributed to the local sporting community.

Adult Learner of the Year

Sponsored by Wirral Metropolitan College

Do you know someone who has recently taken up learning, which has helped them improve their life, by getting back into employment or gaining a promotion they previously wouldn’t have have even dreamed of? We want to hear about how learning has improved an adult’s job prospects or career, or even helped them move into Higher Education. Perhaps it’s someone you know, who was made redundant, but then by learning something new were able to start a new career and they’ve never looked back. Please write in with details of the adult you would like to nominate, explaining why you think they should gain this award.
