CONSIDERING the amount of heavy rain over four days the council, surprisingly, did not place a blanket closure on grounds that became waterlogged and yet again caused the cancellation of many fixtures.

However, a few games did take place and saw JASGA FC and Nelson FC fight out a 3-3 draw in a First division Cup fixture that required a penalty-shoot out to decide the outcome.

Nelson led twice but Daren Pritchard levelled each time before Stewart Speed put JASGA ahead but a late equaliser took the game level at full time.

JASGA won the shoot-out 6-5.

In the only Moreton Alarms Supplies Second division fixture to play Vineyard went nap when beating West Kirby United 5-1.

Josh Sutton was the lone marksman for United, but on target for Vineyard were Tom Mole and James McClennan with a brace each and Reece Howell-Pratt with a single to put their team up into third place.

The delayed Capitol Cup first round fixture between Rockpoint FC and Eastham Rangers Colts ended in victory for the home team as a first-half double from Josh Hatton saw them through to the next round in an end-to-end encounter on a surface that became very difficult.
