IN RESPECT of the proposed Hoylake golf course, self-contained hotel resort, shops and luxury housing development that Wirral Council are rail-roading through in the face of across-the-board local opposition, I have these concerns:

  • We already have a world-standard golf course at Hoylake.
  • We do not need another one.
  • We have a beautiful setting and the golf course co-operates carefully to preserve wildlife.
  • How could building 150 luxury homes and a hotel possibly help to conserve what we already have? It makes no sense.

It can only be the same old business maxim of seeing what is successful and opening an identical business next to it and thereby splitting the income.

And the problem is?

We are custodians of the land. It supports us.

A diversity of flora and fauna is required for us to continue to exist as a species. You cannot just keep building on our land indefinitely.

For any new developments, the council must look at supporting local enterprise and keeping profits and income in our area so we can keep on paying our rates.

Who knows.

We might even be able to afford to fill in some pot holes in our roads.
