IN the autumn of 2015 with the first heavy rains the area in Moreton at the end of Bermuda Road and Town Meadow Lane and Millhouse Lane was flooded.
This was the first time in more than 50 years that this area was subjected to flooding since the route of the River Birket was changed and the river was widened.
The Environment Agency said last year that the river had been cleared and it was just the extreme weather conditions that had caused this flooding.
I went past the river today and it is now so overgrown that you would not know that there was a river there. Now is the time to act – not after people have been flooded out again.
