THE council's new proposals for the collection of green waste bins is an insult to the public of Wirral.

There are only two options:

  • Agree to the green bin being emptied every three weeks.
  • Receive a much smaller green bin which is emptied on a two-week schedule and also receive a small caddy to keep in the kitchen to collect food in and also another plastic container to put the bagged food waste in throughout the week.

This can then be placed out every week alongside whatever other bin is due for collection that day.

It begs the question are there then going to be weekly collections of all these food containers, and if so will it all go into the one wagon – garden waste or recycled waste – or will they then need different wagons to collect the different waste?

It sounds like a lot of wasted time and effort if they then have to have weekly collections of different types of waste.

Also the smaller green bin they plan to issue will not be able to take the waste generated from a typical home after two weeks.

These councillors seem to live in cloud-cuckoo land. If they seriously want to save Wirral some money, let’s see the number of councillors seriously reduced.

Do we really need 66 councillors?
