WITH reference your recent letter headlined Dog walkers get ruff deal in May 11 edition of the Wirral Globe Mailbox .

It would appear the 'tit for tat' battle between dog muck and human littering will be a continuing debate.

Both are disgusting but clearly dog muck is far more unpleasant and dangerous.

There's no comparison between the two.

A smoker can be fined for dropping a cigarette butt.

A dog owner can let their dog do far worse and get away with it.

It is literally impossible for dog owners who release their animals from the leash to go chasing their animals and collect their mess and it's simply an impossible thing to monitor so why do people keep moaning about it?

It always was a problem and always will be, albeit worse with an increasing dog population.

Perhaps the only way to control it would be to have designated dog walking areas that would be fenced and a dog licence would fund the cleaning up of such areas.

Other than that there is no solution. Dogs are dogs.
