I NOTICE that UKIP's Phillip Griffiths and Paul Nuttall regularly have letters published in the Globe, blaming our ills on the EU or immigrants, but as usual completely silent on the cuts and austerity slowly poisoning our society.

Their latest concern seems to be the tens of thousands of ordinary people who peacefully protested at the Tory party conference in Manchester.

Phillip Griffiths seems to think that this was dangerous and anti-democratic.

It's funny, I always thought protests were a vital part of democracy.

The Suffragettes caused real disruption trying to change the minds of stubborn "legitimately elected" politicians, luckily for half our population they succeeded and won them the vote.

Doubtless Mr Griffiths takes a dim view of all this.

Surely, what is truly dangerous is a party, like his, that seeks to blame the weakest in our society for the mistakes of the powerful.
