ZERO fines so far have been issued by Wirral wardens over dog mess.
Either the wardens fail to spot any guilty dog-owners, they are dog-lovers themselves and see no harm in it, or they have no incentive to issue on-the-spot fines.
They must clearly take a leaf out of the book followed by traffic wardens who, if anything, are over-zealous.
Perhaps if dog wardens were paid a bonus of say £5 for every fine issued over a basic ten fines per week we would suddenly have a spotless Wirral.
Responsible dog-owners would not be affected.
I have often wondered why the council does not provide small, dedicated "dog mess" areas - but Not In My Back Yard!
