ON Sunday June 14, at 3pm, to mark the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta, the clinking of teacups will be heard as communities across the UK take tea together as part of LiberTeas.

In theVale Tearoom Vale Park New Brighton the deputy mayor of Wirral, Cllr Pat Hackettt, will take “Tea at 3" to celebrate universal suffrage.

The event organised by the Friends of Vale Park is taking place to commemorate in particular the life and work of the peaceful suffragist Edith Eskrigge, who 100 years ago lived in what is now Vale Park.

Edith was also involved in children’s welfare charities, a school for invalid children and orphans in Liverpool.

The theme is Votes for Women and any speeches or debate will be on a non-partisan basis.
