THE revelation that Wirral Labour councillors spent almost £3,000 on taxis in 2013/14 whilst obediently rubber-stamping coalition government-dictated cuts in council services and jobs is but the tip of a shady financial iceberg of perks, allowances and expenses for these latter-day Pharisees.
There is no such thing as "austerity" for council leader Phil Davies and company.
The disgust and disenchantment of ordinary people with the three-party political establishment has prompted the meteoric rise of UKIP, whose policies include privatisation of the NHS, and would make matters ten times worse for those workers and unemployed desperate enough to vote for them.
Times are ripe for a socialist alternative to the never-ending cuts, privatisation and falling living standards of unbridled capitalism.
The Greek workers have shown the way.
