WIRRAL council adult social services department announced their restructure to employees, who were ushered into Wallasey Town Hall, provided with a pack they had to sign for and then made to sit and listen to the announcement that many of them, myself included, will face an approximate £5,000 per year pay cut ... Merry Christmas.

The cuts were made under the guise that a wonderful new job had been created for us, which would mean we can keep a job (shouldn't we be grateful).

The problem with this is if you look closely at these new and cleverly corporately manufactured job descriptions, you will see they are in fact the very same jobs we are doing at the moment.

It also transpires, surprisingly enough, that when you look at this new restructure you will see that those high earners in senior management positions do not seem to shoulder any of the burden of pay cuts.

I have worked for Wirral council for more than 20 years (have had approximately 10 days off sick in that time) and am the sole earner in my family.
