I AM trying to find people who worked at – or who have knowledge of – Wallasey Power Station in the years following the second World War.

My dad, Patrick O’Dwyer, worked at Wallasey Power Station between 1947 and 1952. He died two years ago of mesothelioma – a particularly nasty cancer caused by asbestos.

We think the only place he could have been exposed to asbestos was during his time at the power station so we’re keen to find people who know what it was like working there in those years.

We're particularly interested in the use of asbestos at the generating plant and the stores nearby.

My dad had a great memory and remembered several colleagues from the plant: Ted Astley, Bill Corlett, Fred Hunter, Cedric Brown and Fred Woodward. I'd love to speak to any of them or their relatives.

I also wonder whether any other former employees of the plant also developed mesothelioma.

If so, I'd very much like to speak to their relatives.

My contact email is nicholasodwyer@me.com and my number is 01865 297 220.
