I TEND to agree with your correspondent re the above issue in last week’s Mailbox.
Dog fouling is a big issue for the borough council to deal with but they don’t make it easy for themselves when they get rid of dog wardens, which they have done in large numbers over the last couple of years.
It wasn’t so long ago that we had an increase in the number of wardens but that was not under a Labour administration but under a Tory / Lib Dem administration and the council was run more for the will of the people rather than against the people.
We have had austerity measures in place for many years, both under Labour and Conservative governments, but it is usually Conservative councils that are able to cut their cloth accordingly and provide the services we need and not waste money on excessively expressive staircases in the Town Hall, giving cheap loans to other councils and paying over the odds for consultants.
The money Labour has and is wasting is a joke, but nobody is laughing, and does anybody really care enough to do anything about it?
