I HAVE just been to New Brighton and asked the contractors, who are wasting more council money by digging up the parking spaces, what exactly were they doing.

The reply was that they are creating more parking spaces by doing away with the brick planters.

I was then told that, according to the plans in the site office, pay meters are going to be introduced.

I spoke to several traders in the area and they said that nothing had been finalised, but the council is looking into it, and we all know what that means.

If it’s on the plans, then surely the deed is done?

One way of ruining an area is to make people pay to park, and all it will do is create problems on other roads, as well as damaging the fragile economy of the  "wonderful regeneration" that we have seen over the last couple of years.
