LAST week I was incensed when Biffa refused to empty my bin because one of the wheels on it had rusted off.
In the warm weather that would have meant either a stinking bin in the garden for a fortnight or transferring already rancid sacks into the car to take to the tip.
I contacted the council’s Streetscene department and, after first being told it would cost me £37 to replace the bin – which I objected to – was then told the wheel would be repaired within a fortnight.
Twenty-four hours later, the wheels were indeed replaced. Another 24 hours after that, a Biffa crew came back and emptied my bin.
Bravo. In my experience this council rarely gets anything right but on this occasion they, and Biffa, were just a bit ace. Thank you.
AM, Hoylake.
