BOTH my wife and I are ex-armed forces and use this benefit a lot.
Both of us are public sector workers and see this as the only bonus we get in these times of austerity.
Our pay rise has been 1% for the last four years so to take this perk off us will only lead to less money in the household if we wish to continue using leisure services.
I would like to see the council get rid of all the free iPads its staff have, free mobile phones, oh, and did I mention the golf?
How many staff had free tickets to this event, some of whom will have enjoyed corporate hospitality no doubt all at the council tax-payers' expense?
