AS a proud Merseyside pensioner, I must respond to the arrogant remarks from your un-named correspondent in last week's Wirral Globe Mailbox who wants women to live in the past.
He does not like the title "Ms" which some women prefer to use instead of openly declaring their marital status with the use of "Miss" or "Mrs".
Men do not have to declare their marital status in their title, so why should women?
The days when women were treated as the chattels of men are long gone.
The use of the title "Ms" has enabled women to escape from this status.
I am sure that if there was an alternative to "Mr" for men, which indicated their marital status, some men would use it.
Women suffer enough sexist and yobbish behaviour, as described by "outraged 22-year-old”, in last week’s Wirral Globe, without having to state their marital status in communications.
The remarks of your correspondent made me very angry.
Whether or not a woman is married is her own business, not that of anyone else.
Ms Audrey Moore, Wallasey
