Firework woes

I WRITE to complain about the reckless setting-off of fireworks which begins mid-October and carries on seemingly until after Christmas.
Not only does it wake sleeping children, it petrifies animals.
And is it totally necessary to launch noisy rockets after midnight, throw bangers over back garden walls and generally carry on messing about with gunpowder in an anti-social manner to celebrate some provincial English Catholic idiot’s plot to destroy Parliament more than 400 years ago?
Give it a rest now.
