FIRSTLY in reply to Jan Bowen who wants dogs excluded from West Kirby to Hoylake and for longer dates.

I walk my dog twice a day at West Kirby and I am, like the vast majority, a responsible owner.

Yes, some owners have walked their dogs where the birds are but if they are visitors they don’t know about that.

I personally have only seen a small placard displaying these facts on the notice boards but so few visitors read them.

As for dogs urine on the beach, well when the tide comes in, I believe it is far from clean water.

At the weekend we cleaned up broken bottles and cans from the dunes near the golf course. There have been large ‘red hot’ disposable BBQ thinly covered in sand left just feet from the steps near Riversdale Road.

There were also teenagers who had a lot of alcohol and threw bottles and cans on the rocks next to the marina yet Jan Bowen thinks the people don’t cause problems?

I do agree with Lynne Harris, the whole community can save these natural facilities and I would like to thank the amazing people who volunteer and clean up the tonnes of rubbish left by people.

Y A McMahon, West Kirby.
