THE Rotary Club of Wallasey would like to thank the Wirral Globe and all those people who attended our book stall at the Cherry Tree Centre and bought books or just made donations.

Every penny will free of any costs go to paying for immunising children in the final efforts to eradicate the whole world of polio.

In 1985, Rotary made a commitment to help raise money to eradicate the world of this terrible disease that killed or crippled children.

There were 350,000 cases a year throughout the world with it at present now only in two countries.

We received £500.19p in total.

The extra good news is that by way of support, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will add £1,000 to what we collected.

The total will pay for 4,000 or more children to be immunised.

Our most sincere thanks to all those who supported us in our efforts to fight Polio.
