AS the Labour candidate for Moreton West and Saughall Massie, I fully endorse and support the views of Edward Robertson in last week's Wirral Globe on the subject of the restoration of the 901 bus service.
It is yet another casualty of the year on year cuts by central government that are having a major impact at local level.
It is my intention to take up Mr Robertson's grievance with the Labour representatives on the Merseytravel board.
It is high time that we stopped defending cuts to essential public services on the basis of economic viability alone.
For many years in our society the political consensus acknowledged the importance of including social cost as an essential part of the equation in determining value for money from our public spending.
We cannot continue to strip away the infrastructure that supports our communities and causes great distress to many of our most vulnerable people.
Bill McGenity, Labour candidate, Moreton West and Saughall Massie.
