IN reply to your correspondent Charles Nunn – it is not just waste on outside staff with Wirral Council, there is a £1bn plan to reform Birkenhead and Wirral Council chiefs going to the Mipim International Property festival on the French Riviera where they want to find developers to invest in Wirral focusing on Birkenhead.
As they could not get developers to invest in Birkenhead some four or five years ago I really don't think that this is just another excuse for a jolly for Wirral leaders at the council tax payers expense.
No wonder we keep getting above inflation increases every year.
Also, to your correspondent Liz Grey the reason central Government did not give extra funding to the council was because they were told to spend some of the £95m they have held in bank accounts and to also call in the loans they have given to other councils before they get anything.
So Wirral Council are not skint – they just don't like spending it on Wirral tax payers.
