I DON'T understand why there seems to be such a large and angry bee in Globe readers' collective bonnet about this parking charge business.

Yes, the parking charges are ridiculously high, but for a number of years the quality of my retail experience when using local businesses has been lacklustre at best.

Why bother facing the limited choice of goods available locally (at a premium) while simultaneously offering oneself up for exploitation by Wirral Council's parking department when one can so easily park for free and take advantage of the wider range of goods available at much lower prices in the large supermarket of your choice.

Doing this kills multiple birds with one stone – you decrease your carbon footprint, save money, get better swag and get rid of these money -grabbing local businesses once and for all.
