SEVERAL Wirral clubs took part in the annual West Lancashire Yacht Club Twenty Four Hour Dinghy Race on Southport Lake during the weekend.
Crews had to contend with very mixed conditions but progress was generally slick. The leaders completed over 85 circuits of the lake in the time available.
The West Kirby Sailing Club "A" team in a GP14 finished nineteenth overall and second placed in the Masters Competition behind Budworth.
Hoylake Sailing Club sailing an Enterprise finished 24th overall and third in the Master event.
West Kirby "C" in a Firefly were 34th, West Kirby “B” in a Lark were 45th and Wallasey Yacht Club in an Enterprise were 61st.
Liverpool Yacht Club with two Enterprise teams finished 58th and 60th.
A total of 63 teams took part. South Staffs put up an outstanding performance.
Their "A" group in a Lark were winners with their “B” squad in a GP14 the runners-up.
