TRANMERE Rovers are gearing up for an Easter weekend of fixtures that will yield a crucial six points if won.

Micky Mellon's side face seventh-on-the table Dover Athletic away on Good Friday (3pm) and are back at Prenton Park for an Easter Monday clash with 21st-placed Solihull Motors (3pm).

Last weekend, Rovers beat Boreham Wood 3-1 in a clash on home soil that saw them climb to third on the National League table and set them back on course for promotion.

With seven games left, including this weekend’s, there is all to play for.

During a press conference at the club’s Solar Campus training ground in Leasowe this afternoon, Mellon told the Globe that the players' mood was 'very good' as they prepare for the games.

He said: "They are enjoying playing games at the minute; at this stage of the season that's pretty much what you want to do.

"We've got to make sure that, in between, we get people focused and prepared for what they have to do.

"The games are great to be involved in, because when you get the results the highs are huge.

"So they enjoy playing under these conditions; everybody does. We enjoy managing them and the fans enjoy being involved in them as well.

"It's a good time of the year and we’re in a good place.”

Assessing Friday's opposition, he continued: "The challenges in this league are, always, very different but everyone is a challenge.

"Friday will be a different one, for a whole host of reasons.

"It will be a difficult game, but one that we will look forward to the challenge of trying to win."

Assessing his squad, Mellon said: "The good news is that they are all pretty much available.

"The important thing for me now is to keep them all active for as long as I can without being reckless when picking a team.

"I can now have a look at the players and about think about the best team that can get Tranmere a result.

"It's always difficult, for some reason in National League as well, that you only have five subs and one's got to be goalkeeper.

"That can be difficult, because I've got to manage a dressing room of first-team players who want to play first team football.

"So, because there are only four outfield subs you don’t get the six outfield, like you do in the Football League.

"You're always looking to get the balance of that right and make sure people are involved. So having a good healthy squad is great.”
