TRANMERE Rovers will celebrate women in football during their home game against Barrow on September 9.

With Prenton Park hosting England Lionesses' World Cup Qualifier against Russia on Tuesday, September 19 (kick off 7pm), the club is marking the achievements of women in the sport at the home game prior to the international fixture.

Admission for the fixture has been reduced to just £2 for all U17s, while adult admission is from £17.

Vice Chairman Nicola Palios said: "We've got a rich history of women in football at Tranmere Rovers – from Sue Smith and Jodie Taylor playing for England, to Lorraine Rogers being one of the first female chairman of a Football League club.

"We're looking forward to hosting England Women on September 19 and want to use this home game ahead of it to showcase the many important roles women have in football on and off the pitch.

"There are already a lot of girls' football teams and other groups booked to come to the England game and we hope they'll take advantage of our special offer and come and try some National League football for only £2."

Tickets can be purchased for the game at www.trfctickets.co.uk.
