TRANMERE Rovers have signed former England striker Michael Ricketts on a one-year contract.
The 30-year-old's career began with Walsall in 1996 before moving to Bolton Wanderers for £500,000 in 2000.
He scored 46 goals in 112 games for Bolton, earning an England cap in the process.
He signed for Middlesbrough for £3.5 million in 2003 before moving to Leeds United a year later.
He had made more than 380 career appearances, scoring 94 goals. He has since spent time at Southend United, Preston North End, Oldham Athletic and Walsall.
Tranmere Manager John Barnes said: "Michael is an experienced goalscorer who I'm delighted to be able to bring to the club.
"He is big and strong and will add something different to our attacking options."
Michael added: "I'm pleased to have joined Tranmere. The lure of playing for John Barnes, who was an idol of mine, and the style of football he wants to play were big factors in me coming here."
Michael will be available for Saturday's home game against Gillingham, kick off 3pm.
