Birkenhead Park lost 10-19 at home to Wirral in the main Cup in a rather windswept affair at the Upper Park Both sides were somewhat experimental.
Wirral scored two tries and three penalties. Sean Woof crossed for Park and Dave Hall landed the conversion and a penalty.
In a Vase derby New Brighton came away 25-13 from Anselmians.
In the Bowl Wallasey went under 21-19 at home to Oswestry.
Oxton Parkonians had a bye in the opening round of the Plate.
