THERE were many factors in play for the CWFL fixtures this week ranging from Cheshire Cup games, weather and a shortage of match officials re - sulting in some postponements.

In the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup Newton Athletic and Shaftesbury Youth both put on match winning performances by beating Styal FC and Deva Athletic respectively.

Ben Woodman (2) and Lewis Davenport were Newton’s scorers as they beat Cheshire League 1 side Styal with Shafts beating Deva, also of Cheshire League 1 thanks to strikes from Danny Whitehead (2) and John McGraa.

MBNA and Higher Bebington Kelma did not fair quite as well as they lost 4-0 and 2-0 to Crewe FC and Broadheath Central.

The ties for Helsby, Ellesmere Port and Princes Villa were postponed due to waterlogged pitches and have been rearranged for next week.

Christleton Celtic look strong as they maintain pressure on Shaftes- bury Youth in the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division.

Celtic are sitting in second after a great 5-1 win over AFC ESSAR.

Sutton Athletic also had a good day at the office as they beat the much fancied Franklyn's 3-2 with goals from Connor Doyle, Daniel Woodcock and Liam Brennan.

Steve Rothwell and Colin Singleton were Franklyn's scorers.

Clubbies are sill aloft of the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One af- ter beating Chester Nomads III 2-0.

Elton Athletic beat Chester Argyle 4-2.

St Saviours could only manage a 1-1 draw when they met a resilient Hoole Rangers.

Cestrian Alex dispatched FC UBER 5-1.

Ellesmere Port FC Reserves continue to dominate the CWFL Link Up Division Two with a powerful 8-1 win over Eastham Athletic. Princes Villa reserves Saughall Colts 6-3.

All other games in this division were called off due to the weather or shortage of match officials.

Jamie Roberts hit 4 for Dee Rangers Vets and Sam Kilmer added a fifth as they beat Upton JFC Vets 5-1 in the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division Two.

Elsewhere in this division Higher Bebington Kelma Vets as they lost 4-1 at home to Nags Head Bunbury Vets. Richard Moss and Sean Marshall their scorers.
