WALLASEY won and New Brighton drew in Liverpool & District Competition Premier Division matches last Saturday.

Wallasey looked in trouble at 60-7 against visiting Hightown but then Chris Bourne batting at number nine struck a timely unbeaten 85. Liam Crilly contributed 51 and the Wirral side was able to declare on 226-9.

Hightown fell 77 runs short as Matthew Wilcox returned 7-47.

New Brighton won the toss at Highfield and asked the home side to bat first but the decision backfired as they reached 228-9. Ashraf Nawab claimed 4-39.

The seasiders struggled to 40-5 before number seven Cornelius de Villiers contributed an unbeaten 90 to see them close on 182-7.

The Birkenhead Park title hopes in Division One took a hit as they were held to a draw at home to Rainhill.

Chris Stenhouse helped restrict Rainhill to 160-9 but then Park struggled to 79-8 with Alex Harris on just 18 the highest scorer.

Parkfield Liscard were left in trouble at the bottom of the table after a 41 runs reverse at home to Formby. John McClennan did his best with 63.

Birkenhead St Mary’s and Caldy both lost in Division Two. The Saints fell by 92 runs at Burscough where Arfan Khalid made 52 and Muhammad Ghafoor took 5-20.

Caldy collapsed to 70 all out at home to Wavertree who were restricted to 163 as Haroon Khan claimed 5-45.

Neston worked hard for a two wickets victory at Nantwich which leaves them second placed in the Premier Division of the Cheshire County League nine points behind Chester Broughton Hall.

The home side dug deep to reach 165-7 in their 55 overs. Neston replied with 166-8 off 54.1 overs. Jack Smith top scored with 38 and Chris Finegan claimed 3-41.

Fourth-placed Oxton enjoyed a 77 runs success at Toft. Shaaiq Choudry led the way with a knock of 61 and a 6-63 return. Simon Stokes 70, Alex Hughes 51 and Gayan Fernando 4-34 also did well.

Irby went under by 81 runs at Tattenhall in Division Three. Best on the day were Martin Smith with 57 after going in at number eight and Colin Gibson 3-68.

Upton in Division One of the Cheshire League enjoyed a 60 runs margin at home to Northwich who were dismissed for 88 chasing 148.

Wirral played out a draw at home to Alderley Park, closing twelve runs short with two wickets intact.

Old Parkonians played out a draw at home to Saughall in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance. Mike Hitchell contributed a half century as they finished on 111-8 chasing 183-4dec.

Ellesmere Port enjoyed a six wickets win over Rylands after dismissing the visitors for a paltry 45.

Division Two leaders Port Sunlight saw off Norbury by 100 runs. Danny Van der Berg top scored with 42 in the Sunlight total of 42. Martin Naylor then turned on the bowling style to finish with 6-19.
