THE new cricket season is due to get under way this Saturday with all the local sides in action.
The Liverpool & District Competition who are a week behind schedule start with group stage matches in the Bridging Finance Solutions Trophy.
Birkenhead Park are at home to Southport and Birkdale with New Brighton away to Liverpool.
Other games include Parkfield Liscard v Bootle, Birkenhead St Mary’s at Ainsdale, Caldy at Rainford and Wallasey v Old Xaverians.
In the Cheshire County League, Neston open with a Premier League clash at Marple whilst Oxton welcome Grappenhall. Irby in Division One are on the road to Stockport Georgians.
Cheshire Alliance matches include in Division One Ellesmere Port v Stretton and Parkonians at Rylands. Port Sunlight in Division Two travel to Mossley with Tranmere Vics entertaining Audlem.
Cheshire League openers include Upton v Mobberley in Division One and Wirral v Barrow in Division Three.
