THE Hoylake Central Easter Tournament played on Sunday was won by Lever's John Roberts who beat Dave Gilmore of Tixalls in the final.

Though there had been rain earlier the green was in excellent condition.

Roberts played very well throughout the day and thoroughly deserved his victory.

He had a very good win over Tixall's Jamie Fitzpatrick in the quarters and then followed this with a comprehensive defeat of New Brighton Queens Royal's Eddie Dutton in the semi-final.

Gilmore also enjoyed a great run of results through to the final, he was too good for Heswall's John Lloyd in the quarter finals and he then had a comfortable win over Tixall's Ian Hazlehurst in the semis.

Despite his good form Gilmore could find no answer to Roberts in the final and the player from Levers took a convincing 21-08 victory.

In presenting the prizes the organiser of the event, Keith Etches praised the standard of play throughout the day and he thanked all concerned for helping to make it such a successful competition.
