TRANMERE Rovers' boss Ronnie Moore admits he is looking for that extra spark to help bolster his team as their Coca Cola campaign continues.

Unlike last season the Mighty Whites' ammunition is most definitely in place, but the squad lacks someone to pull the trigger. Moore's top priority is to find the elusive loan striker to take the chances his side are creating. But he admits that finding the new addition is proving difficult: "We need to keep looking because Gareth Taylor might not be fit and Calvin Zola's going to be out for another two weeks.

"We've been everywhere from the Premiership to the Championship, I think the players are out there but I'm disappointed that the managers haven't helped us. We've knocked on an awful lot of doors but so far none have opened to us."

Visitors Port Vale smashed Rovers' unbeaten home record with a 2-1 defeat at Prenton Park on Friday night. It was surely a setback for Moore's League One hopes. They now occupy sixth-place on the league table and have 22 points in the bag.

On Saturday, Rovers take on 12th-placed Carlisle United at Brunton Park (3pm kick-off), and Moore hopes his misfiring players can finally find their shooting boots after squandering a number of chances against Vale.

Commenting on Friday night's encounter, Moore said: "As far as I'm concerned we've been mugged. I thought we were the better side throughout, but it was probably just not meant to be for us. I don't know what it is, but every time we've had the opportunity to go top, we've blown it. If we play like that at home, we'll win more games than we lose, there's no doubt about that."

The pressure is certainly on Rovers in two games this week. Last night (Tuesday) they hoped to return victorious from Bury following their Johnston's Paints Trophy first-round tie. If the score remained level after 90 minutes the game would go straight into a penalty shoot out.

Another worry is Rover's dismal response to falling a goal behind - they have failed to collect a single point this season when their opponents have gone in front.
