IN the Victory Cup semi-final, Ryan Thompson sealed a man of the match performance after smashing in a hat-trick aided by strikes for Lewie Morgan, Jamie Williams and a great lob from an acute angle by Paul Grimwood as Fender knocked Birkenhead FC out in a ten-goal thriller.

Jubilant Fender go on to meet Claughton Hotel in the final after putting in an impressive shift against title hopefuls Birkenhead in a 6-4 scoreline.

Claughton Hotel progressed through to the final after edging out Myrtle AFC 4-3 in another high scoring semi-final.

Top scorer Dave Bowe fired home twice with goals for Nathan Jones and James Hodjin for the triumphant Claughton.

Derek Taylor netted twice both coming from set pieces one an absolute peach the other coming courtesy of a Darren Sutton tap in for the unlucky Myrtle who had Billy Duggan being voted man of the match.

The second division saw the Truman Cup semi-finals take place with league leaders Bromborough Rake taking on young underdogs Parkfield BA in a game that went right to the wire being tied 3-3 at the final whistle.

Extra-time could not separate the two sides as Bromborough Rake progressed through 5-4 on penalties to meet AFC Stadium in the final.

Second-placed AFC Stadium go on to meet The Rake after disposing of FC Wirral in a closely-fought 3-2 victory in the remaining Trueman Cup semi-final.

Carl Aldred smashed in a brace followed up by a John Jackson winner for ecstatic manager Phil Duffy.

FC Wirral will feel aggrieved, with Paul Gundersen putting in yet another good display picking up the man of the match accolade.
