THE first of the Regent Cup semi-finals saw Ridgewood Rangers dispose of Bromborough Rake, both from the second division in a close cup encounter.

The game was tied at 2-2 at the final whistle, Rangers progressed through to the final after a crucial extra time winner coming from captain Chris Anthony, Neil Davies and Adam Corless also netting for the jubilant Rangers.

Carl Boyd hit a fierce drive from 20 yards out and Keith O'Toole grabbed a tap in for the unlucky Rake.

The top two from the first division clashed in the other semi-final as Birkenhead FC toppled McGinty's in a 3-2 victory.

Ian Louchran kept his nerve to guide home from a spot kick, James Atherton netted along with a match winning half volley from Ricky Neill. Ralph Welch replied for McGinty's with two penalty kicks.

In the First Division, Queens Arms battled out a 1-1 draw against Fender in a good, tight game of football.

Ryan Thomas chipped in with a decent finish coming from a great cross field ball by Liam Williams for Fender. Peter Rutter yet again found the back of the net for The Queens who had Darren Amis being voted man of the match.

AFC Stadium in the Second Division emerged 5-0 winners over Parkfield BA.

Stadium went in one goal to the good at half-time in a pretty even first half.

But they finished much the stronger after the interval punishing the home side with a further four goals in a deserved scoreline. Carl Potter smashed in a brace with Mark O'Brien, Rob Wellens and John Jackson also in on the action.

In the Veterans' League, New Ferry Wirral Hotel upset the form book beating previously unbeaten Shaftesbury Avenue 1-0. Craig Reece hit the all important goal after some good individual play in a well-mannered, end-to-end game.
