SPORTSMAN'S Victoria continued their fine patch of form with a 6-1 victory over Lord Raglan in the Wirral Sunday League's Challenge Cup third round.

The Premier Division side had too much in the tank for the Division One minnows, and celebrated the win with hat tricks from Ben England and Gareth Thomas.

Strongly-fancied Euro Wirral earned their passage to the last eight, after John Strange, Paul McKay and Lee New hit the target in the 3-1 win against Premier Division rivals, Caldan Solutions.

Free-scoring Sportsmans Arms put Morton Arms to the sword, and endorsed the 8-2 result with goals from John Gann (2) Kevin Oates Jnr (2) Wayne Ball (2) Joel Taylor and Tony Jones, while Adam Coulls made a two goal contribution for Shore Villa, but couldn't prevent his side from dipping 3-2 to Ravenscroft in extra time. Ben Percival (2) and Robbie Abelwhite netted for the victors.

Premier side TSF scored three times but still capitulated 7-3 to consistent performers Bird, who had the ace in the pack in four goal hero Kyle Williams. Further efforts from Mickey McCann (2) and Jamie Williams completed the statistics.

In a game superbly handled by Mark Ellison, Towers and Neston were deadlocked at 4-4 after extra time before Neston's spot kickers held their nerve to post a 5-3 result; while in the Pyke Sunday Cup third round it was a profitable day for Sheridans Utd who emerged 2-1 victors from their tussle with Railway Meols.

Prenton Park's progress in the Wirral and District FA Sunday Premier Cup hit the buffers after they capitulated 3-0 at Woodchurch in Sunday's third round.

The Wirral League had better fortunes however in the Wirral & District FA Sunday Amateur Cup where efforts from Richie Foulkes (2) John Lloyd and Dane Griffiths saw Neston Nomads march into the semi-finals thanks to a 4-1 result over Farmers Arms.

Following a spate of indifferent form, Gladstone Athletic returned to winning ways in their Division One fixture with Eagle & Crown. Anton Jolley fired a four-goal salvo and Danny Jones was a three-goal star in the 9-1 victory.

In Division Two, Birkenhead News were jubilant after they recorded their second league win of the season. Danny Eccles (2) and Danny Nettleton scored in Sunday's 3-2 success at Imperial.

Andy Huxley found the net for Syncreon Automotives but it was visitors, The George, who went home with the points after they rallied to win 3-1.

The day's final game took place at Ness Park, where Wirral Athletic enjoyed a 3-0 win over Bromborough.
