CUE king Ronnie O'Sullivan says there are just a few places left in his fantastic 2006 Summer Snooker League.

Limited space remains for people to join the 16-team league with a chance for the winners to grab £1,000 cash in the competition held at Rocket Ronnie's Snooker Club, King Street, Wallasey.

Now in its third year, the league - held in association with Carlsberg and the Globe - is expected to be more competitive than ever.

Entrance is £20 per team, with each team needing a minimum of five players. Eight teams will play against each other on Tuesdays, the other eight on Wednesdays.

This year's league, which will have an individual handicap format, will see the return of the two previous winners - Old Swan Conservative Club and the Shepherd's Rest.

Club professional Danny Murphy said: "Last year's league was very competitive and there was a nail-biting final - it went right down to the wire."

He said Ronnie O'Sullivan himself was expected to make a visit to the popular venue later this month.

"It's his club and he's excited about the league," said Danny. "He has strong family links to Merseyside, which is why he invested in Rocket Ronnie's in the first place.

"He's indicated that he wants to come along soon and we're obviously looking forward to seeing him again. Joining in the league could give fans the perfect chance to meet one of their heroes."
