MORE than 1,500 youngsters will be meeting up with former Liverpool and England legend Phil Neal on Saturday when he launches what is probably the biggest two-day junior football tournament of its kind on Wirral.

Not only that, they also be coming face to face with two of English football's most prized trophies the FA Cup and the FA Community Shield, which will be on display on Sunday.

The two-day Allport Hawks and Investors in Sporting Health Football Tournament takes place at the Leverhulme playing fields, Bromborough. Every child aged between six and 16 will receive a certificate of achievement, free fruit, a bottle of water and a medal, as well as a goody bag with a water bottle and wall charts.

They will also receive free sun screen should it be required.

Allport Hawks Junior Football Club and Investors in Sporting Health provide all this because they believe that children should not only be encouraged for taking regular physical activity but they should also be encouraged to eat healthily and be aware of the dangers of over exposure to the sun.

Phil Neal will blow the first whistle on Saturday at 10am. Phil, who made 700 league appearances in his career and was capped 50 times by England, will be on hand to encourage the teams until mid-day.

Saturday will see teams aged between Under-12 to Under-16 taking part.

Cheshire FA will be on hand both days providing free football coaching to any child who goes to the tournament over the weekend, free of charge. There will also be areas set aside for girls aged five to 15 years to show the boys how to play the beautiful game.

All the free coaching will take place on the giant McDonald's inflatable pitch and the inflatable skill zones. Streetcage Soccer will be giving demonstrations on football tricks and running free training sessions both days.

The FA Cup and the FA Community Shield will be on display all day on Sunday and there will be an opportunity to have your photo taken with the famous silverwear. Ronald McDonald will be making his presence known over the Sunday with his Gym Club team.

People can also donate old sports kit to the KITAID appeal. Old shirts, socks, shorts etc should be washed.

Parking over the two days will be restricted near to the playing fields please note the nearest train station is Bromborough and the nearest bus stop is on the A41 at Christ The King Church.
