Caldy stage their Annual Seven-A-side Tournament on Sunday as the rugby union season comes to a close.

There will be action throughout the day from around 11am.

It is the 66th running of the popular event. Local sides will be backed up by the likes of Sale, Glasgow Hawks, an Army Fijian seven and several guest sevens.

A Northern Ladies Tens competition on Saturday provides a forerunner to the main event.

Birkenhead Park host the Halbro Cup finals on Saturday whilst Wirral feature in the final of the Cheshire Vase at New Brighton on Bank Holiday Monday.

They meet higher rated Chester at 3.30pm. The game is preceded by the Senior Plate final involving Wilmslow and Lymm at 1.30pm.

Parkonians put their name on the Wirral Floodlit Trophy for the first time with a surprise success over higher rated Oldershaw at New Brighton last Friday.

The South Lancashire/Cheshire Four outfit were given a ten points handicap start through playing in a league below but in the end did not need it against Oldershaw who only the week before gained promotion to Division two.

Ben Pearson crossed twice for Parks. Terry Williams and Andy Smith also touched down and Williams added one conversion and a penalty.

Oldershaw gained three first-half tries and a conversion.

Caldy rounded off a highly encouraging season in National Three North league with a 29-27 success at Hull Ionians. None of the other sides were in action.
