THE start of the Love Lane Liverpool and District Cricket Competition (LDCC) could be delayed after the recent extended period of wet weather.
The competition, which includes Wallasey, New Brighton, Birkenhead Park, Caldy and Parkfield Liscard, is due to begin on Saturday, April 20 but many clubs have reported issues with preparing waterlogged grounds.
A spokesperson for the LDCC said: “The L&DCC Management Committee are aware of concerns expressed that some clubs are facing a challenge to prepare their grounds for the scheduled start of the season on Saturday, April 20, due to the recent extended period of wet weather.
"We will continue to monitor the situation and consider contingency options, which may include postponing the start of the season for one week."
The LDCC confirmed it would discuss the matter further during a captain's meeting this week and at a pre-season meeting to be held at Bootle Cricket Club on Tuesday, April 9.
