UPTON Cricket Club have confirmed that Australian batter Chris McArthur is returning to Old Greasby Road next season.

McArthur enjoyed two highly-successful seasons at Upton in 2017 and 2018, scoring over 2,000 runs and averaging 48.3 with the bat.

McArthur is currently captaining Georges River DCC, who are riding high in the Sydney Shires Competition, and already has a century to his name this season.

Upton 1st XI skipper, Matt Owen, said: “This addition is massive for us as a club.

"Since 2018, most Upton members have been crying out for Chris to return and it is brilliant to say we have finally been able to do it.

"Chris brings experience and ridiculous numbers to the UCG. His level raised the team during his previous two visits and I have absolutely no doubt it will again.

"Chris is a born winner and is once again putting numbers on the card for his club in Australia. I know the Upton family will welcome Chris home. Both for me personally as a cricketer and the club, this is an immensely exciting time."

McArthur added: “I can’t think of many moments that I’ve looked forward to quite as much as this one, I didn’t think I was going to be able to return to UCC and play again.

"I’m honestly just so excited to be coming back and playing for the green and gold once more. But not only that, to be coming back and seeing so many amazing and special people that made UCC feel like home and that makes it even more special for me and that’s what it’s all about. April can’t come soon enough!"
