IRBY'S short stay in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition (LDCC) is over after their relegation to the Southport and District Amateur Cricket League (SDACL) was confirmed.

Irby finished bottom of Division Two in their first season playing in the Liverpool Competition after moving from the Cheshire County Cricket League.

They won just four games out of 22 during the season although they finished just six points below fellow Wirral side Parkfield Liscard.

A statement from SDACL said: "We can now confirm as part of our long standing feeder league agreement with the LDCC, Whitefield CC have become the fifth side in the past eight seasons to win the fully amateur SADACL and move to the semi-professional ranks of the LDCC.

"The feeder structure means Irby CC will be joining the SADACL next season (1stXI - Premier Division 2ndXI - Division 2). Irby's 3rd, 4th, Women's and Juniors teams will remain in their respective LDCC divisions as per the feeder league agreement.

"The SADACL and its members welcome Irby CC to the structure."

Irby CC were contacted for comment.
