A HOME win for Wirral against Ilkley has put them through to the semi-final of the Papa John's Community Cup.
Early in the game the hosts scored three tries through skipper Chris Crowley, Dan Harvey and Tom Akehurst with one conversion from James Annetts to lead 17-7 at half time.
Immediately after the break they increased their lead to 31-7 with the aid of a penalty try and Lewis Hayes, scoring his first try at first team level.
Well in command, Wirral increased their lead with two further penalties from Annetts.
In the final ten minutes of the game, Ilkley ran in two converted tries to give the score more respectability from their point of view with the final scoreline 31-17.
A large contingent from Wirral will now travel to Scunthorpe on Saturday for the semi-final.
