OXTON Parkonians travelled the short distance to Prenton for what was a thoroughly entertaining start to the league season for both sides.
Parkonians were quickly out of the blocks and led 17-3 after 30 minutes.
This was through well-worked tries by And Smith, debutante Alan Hughes and new captain Liam Evans.
Prenton maintained a foothold in the game by replying on the brink of half time before showing real determination to dominate the second period, running in three more tries to seal a deserved 29-17 victory.
A good crowd will be hopeful to see more of the same enterprising and determined rugby from both sides as the current season plays out.
