WIRRAL Schoolboys under 15s football team has become the first from the borough to make it to the final of the ESFA Boys PlayStation Inter Association Trophy.

They will line up against Swansea SFA in the game at Birmingham City's ground, St Andrew's, on Thursday, May 4, at 3pm.

They have overcome Trafford, South Cheshire, Preston, Sheffield, Allerdale and local rivals Liverpool to reach this prestigious final.

Team manager and association director, Will Rowlands said: "This is a very special and resilient group of young footballers who are determined more than ever to show people that Wirral are a team to be feared.

"They have such a close bond with each other and genuinely want to play together and achieve together.

"Every one of them has played their part in our success to date.

"We look forward to meeting Swansea SFA for the first ever game between us and hopefully we will be returning to Wirral as the first ever ESFA National Trophy winners".

The team will be strongly supported with two coaches full of supporters heading to the Midlands to cheer on the boys and help them bring the cup back to Wirral.
