THE Capitol Cup Final brought the curtain down on yet another eventful season and saw both Great Float S&S and Millhouse put on a spectacular game that was action packed from start to finish.

Millhouse claimed the cup with a 3-2 score line, which completed a fine double for them as they retained the trophy.

Early exchanges were frantic but Millhouse took the initiative when Mike Reynolds rifled home a great goal.

Tom Harris then fired home a superb equaliser to level the game.

A disputed penalty gave Float the chance to go ahead, but a flying save by keeper Andy Pugh from Lee Bridges' spot kick kept the scores even until Dave Rudge put Millhouse back in front.

The second period saw Float push hard for the leveller but yet again the form of keeper Andy Pugh – who was man of the match for Millhouse – and a helpful goalpost kept them at bay until Darren Pritchard netted a fine equaliser.

Honours were still even when Millhouse played a fine free kick routine that resulted in captain Jamie Quinn heading the winner with less than 20 minutes remaining.

Chances went begging for both sides as the game maintained a searing pace with Anthony Anglesey putting in a man of the match performance for Float.

But time ran out for them as Millhouse took their second piece of silverware for the season.

The Grove Youth Division finally came to an end and saw Manor Youth claim second place behind champions West Kirby Wasps.

But due to the inability of Vauxhall Colts to play their remaining three fixtures, points of those games were awarded to their opponents.

Nothing should be taken away from the teams who fought tooth and nail in a very competitive division to achieve their eventual success, which included Upton Town and Wallasey Wanderers who pushed hard retain their top four positions.
